These are pieces I created in the late 1990′s. I am now at long last working on some new wheels, to run slower, in clock motion, also candlelit in a similar vein. They are thrown, joined, carved, pierced, slip decorated, golded and assembled carefully.

The ideas arise from: the “hidden Buddha” shrines in Japan, the Japanese gold screens of old, pulling the last light of the day into the depths of the house, and the extraordinarily slow unwinding of the torque forces in a thrown pot, as it shrinks from wet to it’s high-fired stoneware finish.
